Most fractures to this joint will require surgery due to the constant use of your leg. If the fracture went into the joint line in any way then surgery will be needed . Most older women that endure a fracture here at the hip will need to undergo an a total hip replacement. Most hip fractures in the older generation will need to undergo a complete total hip replacement. This is because it will benefit the older generation in the end, they will be able to walk better and wont have to deal with osteoporosis.
Post-Op
Younger patients will generally require an intracapsular fracture in the femur in order to protect the hip joint and ensure that the femur will heal without any complications. The patients of the older generation will require a total joint replacement, the recovery for this surgery will take longer. During rehabilitation it is important that the joint will heal with time but in order to prevent a loss of range of motion the patient will be required to ease into motion exercises.
